Last week I attended training camp for the World Race 11n11 launch. I went in expecting to meet my squad and have a grand time just hanging out and going through different exercises that will prepare us for the field. What I didn’t expect was the work the Lord was going to do on my heart and the truths He was going to reveal to me. So over the next 3-4 weeks I will be uploading a mini blog series all about the different aspects of training camp from Packing Do’s and Don’ts, Meeting the Team, and walking in the truth of what it means to be Seen, Beloved, Redeemed.
So… what even is training camp?
Training camp was 7 days of training our physical, mental, and spiritual selves for living life in Christ and living on the field. Each day was based on a different cultural scenario that effected our dress, food, and habits. For example, Africa day we had to wear clothes that covered our ankles and shoulders, eat with our right hands, and the food was very traditional for Africa. We ate this corn meal paste with lentils and turnip greens on Africa day that is very common there. Teresa taught my table how to eat it correctly. It was actually really good! Check it out below ↓
We also experienced community founded on the love of Christ, which shaped such a safe and loving environment to heal and grow together. We experienced bonding through first experiences of camping in a tent, cold bucket showers, and eating crickets. We experienced worship that brought truth and light. We ate meals together and celebrated a time disconnected from technology, but connected to each other. Lastly, we learned from many brilliant leaders about God, life on the field, and communication.
Overall, it was an amazing week and I can’t wait to share all the things with you guys over the next few weeks.
