Hey everyone! I hope to have some blogs up for you guys soon on what the Lit’s has been teaching me. Wifi has not been the easiest to get my hands on to share these posts, but I hope to get some up soon! In the mean time I just want to share a quick update one where I am at and what my team and I are doing.
So for the Month of March my team and I served with an organization called YWAM in Guatemala City. This time was spent helping them repair and take care of their facility, as well as, doing ministry within the gang communities in the city. This included working with children, teaching them Bible verses and stories and playing with them ever Tuesday and Thursday, as well as, working with some girls that I can’t talk a lot about to protect them, but pouring His love and truth into them. It was a really sweet ministry.
This month was also a really hard month for me spiritually. God was really calling me into a lot of discomfort within ministry and within my walk with him. I found myself struggling to focus on what was really important, which was His plans and His purpose for my time there. I instead found myself getting caught in fear of translating, fear of being a part of worship leadership, and even fear of praying His bold powerful prayers over the children we worked with like I felt him asking me. I chose to say yes because that is why I am here, but it was so hard.
I walked away from that month exhausted, but feeling so blessed to have said yes and to have been there with God. I walked away with a little more confidence in the roles He is calling me and with a little more trust in the power of prayer. I know this journey is still going, but I took a step with God and I am so proud and glad I did. I met incredible people that I plan to see again who blessed my life so much in such a short time. I took more steps in my faith in the promises and the plans the Lord has for me. Most importantly, I walked away knowing God is doing big things in Guatemala City and in the gang communities and I am so glad He allowed me to be a part in his redemption there.
This month we are working in villages in Chicamán to share the gospel through VBS, and the rebuilding of homes wrecked by a mudslide a couple months ago. The people group we are working with are called the Pokomchi and I can’t wait to learn more about them and get to know the people here as we share Jesus with them and serve them this month.
Please be praying over La Verbana, where I believe the Lord is bringing redemption to a town full of gangs and hurts with his love and grace. Please be praying for the YWAM base there as they continue to raise up leaders from Guatemala to go out into the world. How great is our God! Lastly be praying for our ministry in Chicamán, where we are working with the indigenous people, the Pokomchi, to rebuild homes ruined by a mudslide in their village.
Thank you and talk to you soon!
