When most of us think of 2020, I think it’s safe to say the first things that come to mind are COVID, quarantines, racial unrest, election, bombings, hurricanes, and overall just a hard year. I know that it’s very easy to say this year was the worst and good riddance, but for me this year of COVID and quarantining actually bred community, growth, and awareness in my life.

Even though COVID has created a lot bad and hurt, it has also created a slower pace of life and helped me re-prioritize what is most important in my life. I had time to slow down and reflect on the things I have been learning over the past year. I had time to spend hours on zoom calls getting to know amazing people through the World Race. I had time to sit every morning with God and grow in intimacy with Him. Quarantining and loosing my job, left me with evaluating what is most important in my life and being aware of the support system I have been blessed with.

I have learned patience and flexibility through this year of constant change and uncertainty. It is okay that I didn’t leave for the world race in October, that I had squad changes, that thanksgiving was spent at home instead of Ohio, that I won’t get to see some friends before I launch in a week. It is okay because I have learned that there is always a reason and I trust that God will bring glory through this.

Now as this leads into this new year, 2021, and this new chapter of my life with the World Race, I will continue to bring along what I have learned from COVID and 2020. As we travel the world, I am sure there will be times of uncertainty and frustrations, but I hope to bring along the patience and flexibility this year has taught me. I hope to continue putting my trust in Him as I finish fundraising and remember the amazing support system I have been blessed with.

Next week I will be at launch with my squad to fly out to Costa Rica! Can you believe it! I can’t wait to share how God continues to teach me through this next chapter. If you all could keep my squads safety in your prayers and be praying over our ministry hosts, Fundacion Resplandecer(my teams location) and Ocean’s Edge. Thank you for all the prayers and support. I hope you have a blessed 2021 and I’ll see you in Costa Rica!
