Packing…. everyone’s favorite part about travel right??

I don’t know about you, but I struggle real hard when it comes to packing for trips. Now I am having to learn how to pack and live out of a 70 Liter backpack for a year. Luckily, I was blessed with a week of training camp to test run packing and living out of my backpack! SO… my hope is that this might help one of you in your packing endeavors. Also, this is not the end all be all of packing. It is just what I learned from training camp. Also, this packing list can be used when packing for the year, but it’s more specifically to help with Training Camp packing.

Do’s:

Do pack more pants than shorts. I packed quite a lot of shorts and ended up wishing all week that I had more pants because pants always fit dress codes.

Do pack layers. You never know what the weather is going to be like, so pack outfits that can mix and match and can layer warm to cool weather.

Do pack a water bottle. You can fill it up and take it with you so you can stay hydrated.

Do pack smell goods to spray on your gear. Your gear will get stinky so having spray that kills odor is extremely nice.

Do pack a pillow that will make you feel cozy. This is something that can make your sleeping mat feel more like a bed. I did not have a pillow and regretted it the whole week.

Do pack rope. This is really nice to create a drying line for your clothes and towels throughout the week.

Don’ts:

Don’t pack anything that holds onto water. I packed my sherpa (wool hoodie) and I highly recommend not doing that. It wouldn’t dry all week and grew a molding smell (whoops ??) .

Don’t pack too many electronics. This is specifically for training camp. I packed my camera, laptop, and photo printer, which I didn’t use anything except for my camera for a short time. Don’t add the weight to your pack.

Don’t pack a lot of medicines. This is also specifically for training camp. You are only there for a week and you really don’t need to worry about packing a lot of different medical stuff. The basic items they will have already for you.

I hope this information was helpful to you. If you would like to know the specific gear I bought and my thoughts on it just let me know and I’ll write a blog about that.

Again, thank you for your support and be on the lookout for next weeks blog “Meet the Team”.
